I did it.
I packed up my earthly goods, loaded them into Prixie (my dear car, which I met almost a year ago), and left the home and people I grew up with. The lot has been cast, the plan has been set in motion, and there is no turning back. So go ahead Tennessee, throw at me whatever good or evil is in your power to wage against me, and we shall see what you and I are made of.
So, depending on who you are, you may be wondering what my living conditions are. So step into the imagination station and I'll take you there. As we head south, the weather becomes warmer, and the people become friendlier. They also talk more weird the farther south we go. We skip through Kentucky and keep driving past Trashville (a.k.a. Nashville) for 80 miles until we come to a little two-horse town called Hohenwahld (sometimes confused with Hole-in-the-wall). Hohenwahld proudly boasts a Walmart, Save-a-lot, Milltown Market, and a second-hand home furnishing shop. All of these are within 5 min driving distance from where I am living, which makes for a much easier and simpler bacheloring experience.
The mansion (falsely so called) I am privileged to live in belongs to my brother. This brother is unmarried, and after the first afternoon in his house I almost concluded that I had discovered why, but my suspicions are ungrounded. The house is in town, or more accurately, in a neighborhood, and is currently in the remodeling process, while being occupied by a single male (now two single males). I think you get the general idea. If you want more details, you need to come visit us.
I actually like the house (using a bathroom with imaginary walls isn't that awkward if it's just you and your brother), and am very grateful to my brother for letting me move in. I have my very own room wherein I have placed my belongings, and wherein I will spent many hours studying in the year to come. It looked quite barren when I got here, but that soon changed after unloading my stuff, and a trip to Wally-world. Mose and I had a great time shopping for more stuff to fill the void in the house. I am now the proud owner of my very own matching plate, coffee cup, and soup bowl, along with materials with which I plan to put those items to use. What more could a man ask for?
I haven't met the neighbors yet, but Mose says they are nice folks. We have a decent sized back yard, considering we are in town. It is relatively quiet, which makes for a better studying environment. All in all, I am as happy as a country-gone-city kid can be away from his mama.
As far as my job goes, I met my new boss yesterday, and am convinced we'll get along fine. I guess he has a lot of work lined up, which mostly involves concrete pads and pole buildings. I'm pretty excited to see how people work in Tennessee. I don't mind construction, but I'm not really ravished by it either. I guess I'll see how I do.
I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time studying, both for college and the bible. I feel like I need some time to drive down my roots in the faith, and in the bible in order to get a solid foundation for a life of ministry. In the last several years I have been exposed to various different philosophies and ideas from different groups, and I'm looking forward to uninterrupted time digging into the deeper things of God and the bible. I feel like my life is kind of in preparation mode right now for something bigger, and I'm not sure what. I'm both excited and a bit uncertain about the future, but am contend to trust in the Lord, and serve wherever I'm at.
In the meantime, bring on the adventures, and let my faith be shaken and sifted until only the pure and true remains. There may not be much left, but I pray it will be genuine.
